Touring all over the country right now is Ian Svenonious’s (Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up, Wierd War, Scene Creamers) latest band, Chain and The Gang. The band is an incredible lineup that includes Fred Thomas from Saturday Looks Good To Me and Sara Pedal singing and playing. They are touring with Calvin Johnson’s band The Hive Dwellers. It’s a K Records who’s who. Chain and The Gang is supporting their current release, Down With Liberty … Up With Chains!
You can see them in NYC on today (Friday) and in Boston Saturday and shows between then back to Brooklyn on April 26th. It does not end there! They will play many more cities including San Francisco on May 23rd.
Without revealing too many details of Svenonious’s stage costumes (they always surprise and impress me), he did have a beautiful something made up by my friends Seyta and Ellen at Duchess Clothier in Portland, Oregon. Also, don’t miss out on Pedal’s various tunics, ponchos and whatever she picks up at thrift stores by the wayside. Believe me, it was a labor of love helping her reduce the size of her tour wardrobe because she owns so much good stuff to choose from. Clothes horses don’t run free: we drag loads.
